Recent times have been tough for operators – and it continues to be tough.
There are chronic staff shortages industry-wide; a transition to low- or zero- fuel emission looms; safety is becoming an increasingly fraught and contentious issue; margins are slim, money is tight, and uncertainty is high.
This webinar series is a commitment made some time ago to our Members and industry Partners.
So in light of the above, we’ve decided to make it available to all South Australian bus and coach operators and those in the industry.
Anyone in the bus and coach industry in South Australia. If you’re from interstate you’re also welcome.
However if a session is heavily booked, first preference will be given to South Aussies.
It doesn’t matter. If you’re in the industry you are welcome to join. We want to engage and collaborate with industry across the board. Building relationships is what we do to support our members, and it helps the industry as a whole.

Recent times have been tough for all operators – and the stress shows no sign of easing.
So we decided to make these sessions available to all South Australian bus and coach operators, and those in the industry.
No catch. Honestly.
Hopefully you’ll give us permission to send you occasional industry news going forward, so we can have an ongoing collaboration – but there’s no obligation.
Equally we hope you’ll see value in joining Bus SA as a member, but again – there’s no obligation to do so.
Part of the Bus Australia Network, Bus SA is the voice of the bus and coach industry in South Australia.
We are a member-based organisation whose aim is to deliver and grow a sustainable industry. We promote safety and better access to public transportation for all South Australians.
Our members range from single bus owners through to large urban operators. They do the majority of route services, school bus services, trunk routes, community services, tours and charters across South Australia.
Similarly, our industry partners range from Australian-owned software providers to global bus manufacturers, and everything in between.

The bus industry in South Australia is shrinking before our very eyes – our records show that we have gone from roughly 350 operators in 1999-2000 to well under 70 today.

Now, more than ever, Bus SA believes that the industry needs open dialogue – to collaborate and speak as one, where possible.
Right now, safety is foremost in everyone’s minds, and it’s never been more important to keep up-to-date with the developments, products and services at your disposal.
A focus on passenger safety not only saves lives, it builds trust in your business and the industry as a whole.
The South Australian government is looking at electrification of road transport as the biggest opportunity to reduce domestic emissions. The aim is for a low emissions economy and a 50 per cent reduction in state emissions by 2030 (from 2005 levels).
For bus operators, investing in hybrid, low and zero emissions technology is not a future fiction – it is a reality quickly coming our way.
All too often operators tell us, “Its too far down the track to worry about”. It’s not! You need to start thinking about and educating yourself on your options and opportunities now.
Smart businesses know where their industry is headed and invest in staff skills.
By running your business with an eye to the future, training staff accordingly and keeping team skills current, you can quickly adapt to industry changes and advancements.
Commitment to developing employees also leads to higher job satisfaction and better staff retention. A skilled workforce boosts productivity and competitiveness, giving your business a stronger position in the market.
