Bus SA would like to advise members of the passing of Bus Industry Confederation (BIC) Executive Director, Michael Apps.

Michael had been ill for several years and lost his fight on Boxing Day.

Bus SA President, Stephen Lucas, said that it is impossible to overstate Michael’s influence during his nearly 20 years in the industry.

“The profile we now have with politicians and bureaucrats in Canberra is a direct result of the policy focus that Michael oversaw during his tenure as ‘our man in Canberra’,” said Mr Lucas.

“Michael will be sorely missed by all his friends in the industry.

“Not only was he an extremely competent lobbyist, but he managed to influence his wide range of contacts with humour and a good degree of cheek without offending anyone,” he said.

Bus SA Director, Lauran Huefner, noted that Michael’s strong support enabled the Association to develop durable policies aimed at improving mobility options for South Australians, particularly those in rural and regional areas.

“We will feel deeply the loss of Michael’s broad industry knowledge, as well has his extensive policy acumen,” said Mr Huefner.

Bus SA sends heartfelt condolences to Michael’s wife Madonna, and to his family, friends and colleagues. We will always remember him for his wit, his cleverness, and his outstanding contribution to the bus industry in Australia.

Michael’s Farewell Celebration will be held on Monday, 18 January at 13.00 pm at the Kamberra Function Centre (595 Northbourne Ave, Lyneham, Canberra).

It will be livestreamed at https://funeralstre.am/michael-apps.
