2016 State Conference

The Bus SA 2016 State Conference was held on Saturday 28th May at Crowne Plaza, Adelaide. With the overwhelming support from our partners, we were able to improve on last year’s event, and welcome operators, suppliers and Government.

Mobility has undergone extensive changes in cities and regions and for the first time, there appears to be a bipartisan position from both the Federal Government and Federal Opposition that is focused on creating liveable cities and regions as productivity and economic drivers.

Building on this, our Conference theme: Unlocking SA’s Mobility Potential was based on our policy document, Moving People SA, which contains policy recommendations designed to improve the mobility of South Australians.

At the conference we discussed higher accessibility to transport for all South Australians, the introduction of the total transport model based on regional access committees along with the privatization of the yellow school bus fleet to support regional communities. We also discussed endorsing minimum bus safety standards by introducing an industry-driven and administered, government-regulated and monitored, bus safety program.



Other Events

This year, prior to the Bus SA 2016 State Conference, two new events were held on Friday 27 May 2016: The Land Tourism Forum and The Gold Partners Wine tour

Land Tourism Forum:

Through the Land Tourism Forum, we aimed to highlight the challenges and opportunities for Tour and Charter Operators within the tourism sector.

The Forum included topics such as:

  • How tourism markets work for you and your business
  • Tourism and access in regional SA
  • Greater Adelaide as a tourism destination, and,
  • The experiences that visitors to SA are looking for

Gold Partners Wine Tour:

This member only tour, in recognition of the support of our Gold Partners, included a tour of the wine tunnels of Magill Estate, a Masterclass on Penfolds Wines, and a cocktail reception.  This unique event was a great opportunity to network with our major supporters and other operators.
